Active principles: It is composed mainly of alkaloids (0.25-0.50%), essential oil (1-3%), monoterpenes such as limonene, alpha and beta-pinene, p-cymene, linalool, eucalyptol, camphor, ascaridol, flavonoids, heterosides of rhamnetin (pneumo), coumarins, tannins (1-2%) and resin.
Properties: Cholagogue, choleretic, hepatoprotective, eupeptic (favors digestion), aperitif, anti-gout, diuretic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, anthelmintic, sedative, mild laxative.
Mechanism of action: Due to its hepatoprotective action, it increases the production of bile in the liver and facilitates the emptying of the gallbladder, avoiding liver and biliary disorders; acts as a tonic and stimulant of digestive function. Produces changes in the chemical composition and physical properties of bile; in this way, it makes it more fluid and less lithogenic, preventing the bile from precipitating and forming new stones or increasing the size of existing ones. It has the ability to stimulate digestion and alleviate digestive disorders.
Indications: Hepatic congestion, lazy gallbladder, stones, insomnia due to liver disorders, obesity, slow digestion, flatulence.
Contraindications: They have not been reported. It is considered a 100% safe plant.
